Permablitz at Kentish Town City Farm

Sunday 23rd November, 10am-4.30pm

Join this permablitz organised as part of the partnership between Kentish Town City Farm and Permablitz London.

This permablitz will prepare the soil in the garden for winter to best support the soil-food-web (all the small creatures in the soil). Come along to help mulch, plant green manures, create overwintering insect habitats and plant out some winter salads, peas and broad beans to provide an early spring harvest. We will also be maintaining the composting systems in the garden: the cold compost, the wormery and leaf mould bin.

Mini workshops will include:

  • How does a mulch benefit the soil-food-web?

  • What are winter green manures and why are they beneficial to support microbes in the soil?

  • Inoculating the soil with the soil-food-web using ectowhip dip and aerated compost tea

  • Why is leaf mould (composted leaves) so beneficial and how to setup a leaf mould bin?

  • Which vegetables can you plant in November to grow over winter?

  • How to set up mushroom logs with inoculated dowels

RSVP Essential: if you want to come along you need to let Permablitz London know so we know numbers for lunch, which is provided, and so we can give you all the specific details. Contact us here letting them know you want to join the Kentish Town City Farm Permablitz.
